This was what I discovered the day I realized my biggest fear......Zander has outgrown taking naps. I'm not sure if I should praise him for his creativity while curbing his boredom, or if I should cry because there will never again be peace and quiet around here ever again.

While he was in his room for around 30 minutes he managed to
1. Pack his suitcase completely full of undies and one sock. (Hopefully he was planning on traveling some place warm)
2. Make curtains (hence the pillowcase taped to his window)
3. Built a fort, train track, and boat (this is what he told me)
and finally...
4. strike some killer poses

Nap time, you will be missed. May you rest in peace...but not in our house apparently

I love his room by the way. My kids (except for Q of course) have grown out of naps too. It is depressing until you discover quiet time! :) That's good stuff too. You BOTH need it for your sanity. What I do is put a portable DVD player in their bedroom and someimtes even look them inside until they are properly trinaed not to come out. HAHAHA!!! :) It takes a while for them to really get used to it. I tell them they can play they just have to be quiet. I.E. no jumping, destroying things, screaming, etc. Did you want all this unsolicitied advice? Oh well. :)

His playtime looks totally innocent...no poop or toothpaste smeared on the walls- the books and toys are still arranged perfectly on the shelves. I'm impressed.

He could have fired up the chainsaw perched on the wooden stove. You dodged a bullet there!

I love his room. let me give you a little pep talk: Smith has already decided at age 2.5 that he doesn't need a nap. (he naps about 3 times a week) so on the days he doesn't nap he does the same thing in his room. He LOVES quiet time. He sits there for sometimes 2 hours and reads books, tells himself stories, counts, and jumps on the bed. (I don't even have to lock him in... he just stays there) strange kid.

anyway, long comment, but im just wanting to give you hope that cutting out the nap may not be as bad as you are thinking.

i seriously am mourning the passing of zander's naps right along with you. it is life-changing. at least he didn't have access to an entire container of baby powder that he threw all over everything he pulled out of the drawers and closets like a three-year-old who shall remain nameless did at our house. sigh.... the one good thing is during layla's nap you can get some great reading time with z in- or whatever it is the charmer loves to do.
